Ackergill Tower

Ackergill Tower, also known as Ackergill Castle, is situated on the coast of Ackergill, Caithness overlooking the sea at Sinclair Bay.

The tower was formerly a luxury hotel and adjoining pub (called the Smuggler's Inn). It was put up for sale and subsequently closed around January 2019 after it was purchased by an American philanthropist, who now owns the tower, for use as a holiday home.

The tower is around 10 minutes' drive north of Wick town centre and is near to the long distance walking route, the John O'Groats Trail.

From the tower, you can see the ruin of Castle Sinclair Girnigoe along the coast, as well as the nearby beach, Reiss Sands. Ackergill Tower is no longer open to the public, but you can walk along the nearby coastline.
